Italy 2025 | Concert

  • Performances

    • We are currently working to secure and confirm three performance opportunities for IFC as follows:

      • St. Mark's Basilica - IFC will sing a portion of the songs for a morning or evening Mass at the Basilica of St. Mark's, the architectural focal point of all of Venice, and of one of the most significant cathedrals of all of Europe

      • Full 1-hour concert at St. George's Anglican Church

      • Full 1-hour concert at Church of Santa Maria dei Miracoli

    • We expect to sing our concerts on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday nights around 6:00 or 7:00 pm

  • Repertoire

    • IFC Conductor, Tom Anderson and the Italy planning team are in the process of selecting repertoire from present and past IFC seasons

    • Repertoire will be a mix of uniquely western and Asian pieces, as well as a select Italian Renaissance piece

    • Focus of repertoire will be to bring a balance of repertoire that is representative of a choir of international membership

    • Repertoire will be carefully chosen to be accessible for a smaller ensemble of choristers, while being suitably challenging and intriguing for an overseas concert

    • Choral repertoire will be covered by the registration fees at no additional cost

    • Rehearsal space and performance costs covered by the registration fees

    • We will sing a combination of accompanied and a cappella pieces and an accompanist will travel with us

  • Proposed repertoire

    • NOTE: the following are our current considerations, but the repertoire is not yet fixed; your suggestions are welcomed!

    • Bridge Over Troubled Waters - Spring 2024

    • Exultate Justi - Spring 2022

    • The Seal Lullaby - Winter 2022

    • Jai Ho - Spring 2023

    • Peace - Winter 2022

    • Pie Jesu Domine - Winter 2023

    • Sisi Ni Moja - Spring 2024

    • Unwritten - Spring 2023

    • We Rise Again - Spring 2021

    • Come Away, Sweet Love - Spring 2022

    • 2-4 additional new pieces inclusive of Italian Renaissance piece written for St. Mark's Basilica

  • Performance preparation

    • IFC will incorporate some or all of the Italy repertoire into its May 2025 season concert

    • Singapore based IFC choristers will participate in rehearsals from January - March 2025 to prepare for the Italy tour

    • Singapore based guest choristers agree to learn the music independently and join a minimal number of rehearsals in order to be prepared to concert standards

    • IFC alumni and international guest choristers also agree to learn their music independently with agreed-upon core standards of advance preparation

    • Concert preparation expectations are required in order for IFC to  guarantee a concert-ready standard of all choral participants - see below for these details

    • International/alumni choristers are invited to join 1-2 of the Singapore rehearsals before departing for the trip

    • If this is not possible, international/alumni choristers will join the singing cohort in Venice for final rehearsals

    • Rehearsal in Venice will be minimal as rehearsal venues are not plentiful and are costly; therefore, we are still negotiating what rehearsal prep we will have at our disposal

  • Concert preparation core standards

    • IFC maintains a high standard of performance excellence

    • In order to attain concert readiness from all choral participants, a stated expectation of core standards has been prepared by our conductor, Tom Anderson

    • Concert preparation core standards can be found HERE.
