Rehearsal #7 - April 6

Dear Friends,

Our Tuesday rehearsal was #2 for the tenor/bass sections. However, it was pivotal because of the newly published advisory allowing masked singing in groups up to 30. Having all 13 members of our tenor and bass sections singing together was absolutely inspiring and moving. Perhaps that sounds excessive to say . . . However, I can't overstate how powerful it was to experience 2-part and 4-part voices singing together for the first time after 13 months of choral void. The men were amazing and are nearly concert ready! Supreme kudos to you, gentlemen, for your preparation and readiness.

If you did not read the IFCBlog from last week announcing the latest advisory for the Performing Arts sector, please do so. Here is the link to the recent National Arts Council Advisory, Increased Capacity for the Arts. The most significant news for the choral community is that people can now sing while wearing a mask.

We are now at the half-way point of our 14 rehearsals with 7 rehearsals completed and 7 more to follow. Following the stunning rehearsal of our tenors and basses, I can hardly wait to resume our combined SATB rehearsals soon. So, on that note, here's a summary of our remaining weeks:

For April 20 and 27, I will be working with section leaders (SLs) to split IFC into 2 groups who will rehearse at VOS. As soon as we have identified the two chorus groups we will inform members.

For the 4 weeks of recording sessions, SLs will be creating recording groups of 4-7 and will share the recording schedule when it is complete. Once you have completed your recording session at VOS, you will not need to attend any further Tuesday rehearsals.

As we approach the end of phase 2 of our season, your personal goal remains the same. . . . . to independently sing your vocal lines from start to finish at performance tempo with Fran's piano accompaniment with vocal confidence. Please continue to work on this goal in your home practice.

IFC Social Outings

Over the past several weeks, I have had the lovely opportunity to meet and visit with 16 members of the IFC family. Walking, eating, drinking and visiting together has been so delightful. Thank you for welcoming me into the IFC family. I look forward to a future potluck or similar event where the full chorus can celebrate together the conclusion of a successful and fulfilling concert season.

I look forward to Tuesday!

Musically yours,

Tom
